The New Portland Lions Club Agricultural Fair has run since 1931, and the 2026 edition — the 94th — shares the grounds with the 31st Annual Maine Crafts Festival. It runs Thursday through Sunday, September 17–20, on the fairgrounds on Route 146 (School Street) in North New Portland, about twenty minutes from Skowhegan. Admission is $10 and kids 12 and under get in free, with all proceeds going back into local community projects. Thursday opens with the second annual cornhole tournament. Friday brings truck pulls with a street class, Saturday has the Dirty McCurdy Band, lawn mower races and the mud run, and Sunday is Kids Day with mutton busting, a pig scramble and the demolition derby. Across the weekend there is horse and ox pulling, wagon rides, a petting zoo, a lumberjack competition, livestock and exhibit halls, crafts, live music, food, games and bicycle raffles daily. Carnival rides are provided by Smokey's, and a beer garden is open every day. On-site camping is available and campsites fill up fast — Shawna Albert takes reservations at (207) 431-0155.
