The Lilac Festival at Viles Arboretum celebrates lilac blooms with a vibrant blend of nature, creativity, and community. The day features a Makers Market of 100+ Maine artisans and food vendors, a plant sale, and an American Chestnut seedling sale benefiting the Maine Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation. Programming includes live Celtic and traditional music, DJ sets, and educational walks and talks — composting, ethical wildlife handling, a lilac garden tour, and a history walk of the Arboretum's former hospital farm. Families can enjoy a Kids Zone of nature crafts, face painting, and a World Turtle Day turtle ambassador. Admission is $5 per person; free for members and children. 10 AM - 4 PM.
